R5-D4, also known as R5 or 'Red' is a R5-series astromech droid. It was among the droids that the Jawas were attempting to sell to Owen Lars. However it purposely malfunction its motivator so that Lars can purchase R2-D2 instead. That would eventually fulfill the destiny of Luke Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kenobi saving Princess Leia.
Years later, it came into the possession of Peli Motto in Mos Eisley. She would later sold it to Din Djarin to assist in completing his mission for cleanising in the Living Waters of Mandalore
